2008
We are ready for the 2008 season. We are bringing more annuals over from the greenhouses to the retail center every day. Everything will be ready to go by the first week of May. We've added more annuals and perennials and expanded our line of vegetables and fruits. We've added more types of heirloom tomatoes - the total of both heirlooms and hybrids is hovering at 111 (we grew 92 last year), 62 are heirlooms. We will be holding our 2nd annual tomato tasting in late summer. Watch for the date.
The retail center is open longer hours now 7 days a week. We open at 9:00 and close at 8:00 every day except Sunday when we open at 10:00 and close at 6:00.
The safe planting date for central Ohio is mid-May. Until then, you can plant perennials, shrubs, trees and of course, pansies. Fresh nursery stock has arrived and will be replenished every week or so through the season so if you're looking for something specific please let us know and we will get it for you. We have brought out our wintered-over perennials - they grew! - which have a better survival rate if we have a harsh winter because they are 2nd year plants.
This year, About the House will have old and antique house and garden items for sale. Old windows, doors and gates, garden tools, watering cans, wheelbarrows, wagons, porch chairs and swings, even old table linens for some unique porch dining tables. They all will bring back memories of simpler, more relaxing times. New 'finds' coming in weekly.
Remember, Nicole Tolbert's Fine Art Studio is open every weekend from 12 to 5. She's busy crafting terariums, vases, pots and other garden-related items.
